About Leadership to Empower, Enable and Engage Teams

This course helps leaders build the trust, communication, and engagement skills needed to bring out the best in their teams. It focuses on transformational leadership — creating a foundation of respect, authenticity, and shared purpose rather than relying on authority alone.

You'll start by developing your personal leadership skills, understanding the difference between managing and leading and applying decision-making models. From there, the course covers employee engagement and organisational success, including effective communication and active listening, followed by developing team identity and cohesion, supportive and change leadership, and finishing with responsible leadership through ethical conduct and accountability.

By the end, you'll have a personal leadership action plan and the practical skills to empower, enable, and engage your team for lasting success.

Expected Outcomes

The course is structured around five stages — from personal leadership through to ethical responsibility — so each skill builds toward genuinely engaged, empowered teams. By the end, you'll be able to:

  • Identify the core values and principles of effective leadership
  • Explain the connection between transformational leadership and team engagement
  • Apply leadership tools and techniques to create a positive team climate
  • Assess leadership styles to determine their suitability for different decision-making contexts
  • Build team identity and cohesion while avoiding groupthink
  • Lead your team through change with confidence, reducing resistance
  • Design a personal leadership action plan grounded in ethical conduct

Best For

  • Leaders and managers wanting to develop assertiveness and confidence in their leadership style
  • Technical professionals transitioning into leadership or management roles
  • Individuals wanting to improve communication and team leadership abilities
  • Aspiring leaders building confidence and competence in their approach
  • HR professionals looking to enhance leadership effectiveness within their organisation
  • Newly appointed managers seeking to refine their leadership techniques
  • Recent graduates developing leadership skills for career advancement

Training Method

The course begins with personal leadership skills development, covering the difference between managing and leading, transformational leadership principles, and the Vroom-Yetton decision-making model. It then moves into employee engagement, covering what engaging leaders do and how to communicate and listen effectively.

From there, you'll focus on developing team identity and cohesion, including the stages of team development and motivation, before covering supportive and change leadership, including the psychological phases of change. The course closes with responsible leadership through ethics and accountability, including ESG considerations, culminating in a personal action plan. Throughout, you'll work through interactive lectures, group discussions, role-playing, and team-building activities, so you leave with practical leadership skills ready to apply immediately.
